Executive Leadership Team
Vice President for Student Services
David P. Eppich has served as vice president for student services since July 2005. He came to San Juan College from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colo., where he most recently served as assistant to the president for external affairs. During his 25 years at Fort Lewis, Eppich was director of developmental projects and special assistant to the president, director of the college union and student activities, and coach of the men’s club soccer team. During his early career he was manager of housing services and residence director at the University of New Mexico.
Eppich earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of New Mexico and his master’s of science in management from The American College in Bryn Mawr, PA. He is a graduate of Farmington High School.
Eppich has been active in economic development in the Four Corners, and formerly served as chair of the Colorado Region Nine Economic Development Board of Directors. He has served the community of Durango in various capacities and been honored for his leadership by numerous organizations.
Vice President for Business Services
J. Pernell Jones has been employed as vice president for business services at San Juan College since January 2007. Jones’ higher education career includes 11 years as vice president for administration and chief financial officer at College of the Southwest in Hobbs, NM, and more than three years as vice president for business services at Grayson County College in Denison, TX.
A native New Mexican, Jones earned a bachelor's of business administration in accounting from College of the Southwest, and a master's of business administration from Eastern New Mexico. He is a 1983 graduate of Hobbs High School in Hobbs, NM.
Jones has an extensive background in community service including the Boys and Girls Club, Crimestoppers, Head Start, United Way and local church leadership.
Vice President for Learning
Michael Tacha has served as vice president for learning since July 2005. Tacha served as president of Mohave Community College in Arizona from 1997 to 2002 and as vice president for eight years prior to that. His background is in instructional administration and library services and he has worked at institutions in Arizona, Colorado and Kansas.
He started his career teaching history at the junior high and high school level, then taught education, government and library science to college students.
Tacha earned his bachelor’s degree in history and elementary education from Kansas Wesleyan University, his master’s in cultural studies from Adams State College (Colorado), another master’s in library science from Emporia State University (Kansas) and conducted doctoral work at Northern Arizona University. Wherever he has lived, Tacha has been active in his community, serving on chambers of commerce boards, historical societies, library task forces and more.
Vice President for Technology Services
Timothy Warren joined San Juan College in August, 2006, as vice president for Technology Services. He has more than 23 years experience in information technology in both the corporate and education sectors.
Most recently Warren served as the executive director of information technology services with SunGard Higher Education at Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo.
Warren also has served as a computer systems manager, director of computer services and telecommunications, executive director of information technology and IT client service manager at educational institutions include Austin Peay State University, Tennessee State University and Texas Southern University, as well as corporations such as the Nuclio Corporation, and Systems and Computer Technology in Houston.
Warren earned a bachelor of science degree in computer science and management information systems from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tenn., and a master's of science degree in education from Capella University in Minneapolis, Minn. He has managed a variety of information technology projects, from start-up to enterprise-wide implementation.
